The One Ring seems to think that Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: There and Back Again might be undergoing a title change. Apparently, New Line recently registered The Hobbit: Into The Fire. Of course, this could just be for some kind of tie-in, but it also may very well signal that the studio is looking to give the film a new moniker.
For those who don’t know, There and Back Again is actually the subtitle of the book itself, and it has already built a great deal of brand recognition. Not only that, but There and Back Again is a very fitting title for the final film in the trilogy, and Tolkien fans seems to be pretty on board with it at this point.
That being said, I could see why New Line might be looking at Into The Fire. For one, it sounds a lot more exciting, and for the more casual moviegoers, it’s likely to inspire more curiosity about the film. Then again, There and Back Again has been the announced title for so long now that I think almost everyone is familiar with it. To give it up at this point might be foolish, despite the fact that, as fitting as it may be, it is still a bit bland and cryptic.
For now, nothing is official, and as far as we know, Peter Jackson’s final film in this trilogy will still be titled The Hobbit: There and Back Again.
Tell us, are you happy with the current title, or should they switch it to Into The Fire? Sound off below!
