Director Bryan Singer has taken to Twitter today to announce X-Men: Apocalypse, a sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past. The film will hit theatres on May 27th, 2016 (thank god it’s not trying to shove its way into the crammed 2015 schedule) and aside from the fact that it will likely follow the Age of Apocalypse storyline, we have no further details.

For those unfamiliar with their X-Men lore, the Age of Apocalypse storyline is from the 1990s and focuses on “an immortal villain named Apocalypse who decides to reign havoc on the X-Men.”
Again, we have no further details and are still waiting on an official announcement from Fox. What this means though is that the studio is obviously very confident in the upcoming Days of Future Past as they are already planning a sequel to it and the film isn’t even out yet.
Then again, they have no reason not to be confident. Matthew Vaughn’s First Class was an excellent reboot and Days of Future Past looks to follow suit. With the way things are going for the franchise right now, I say the more X-Men the better!
