Juan Carlos Fresnadillo Will Direct The Crow Remake

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, director of 28 Weeks Later, has signed on to direct the upcoming remake of The Crow. The film will be a "re-invention" of the 1994 classic that starred Brandon Lee. In addition to directing, Fresnadillo will “collaboratively develop the script once a writer is attached to adapt the screenplay." Does this mean the Nick Cave version of the script is gone? Most likely. The original version of The Crow wasn't a bad film but was probably most well known for being the setting of star Brandon Lee's death (due to an accidental gunshot on set). I liked the movie, but didn't love it. That being said, it did well enough with critics and at the box office. It also has quite a large legion of fans and managed to spawn a few sequels.

As for Fresnadillo, I’ve seen 28 Weeks Later and actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I have no problem with him taking on The Crow. In fact, it’ll be interesting to see where his vision takes it.
