You can now add one more to the massive list of films that will be arriving in 2015, as Warner Bros. has set George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road, starring Tom Hardy, for a May 15th, 2015 release date. This puts the film in direct competition with Avengers: Age of Ultron (which is opening two weeks before) and Tomorrowland (which is opening one week after).
Though the film is still undergoing some additional photography as we speak, the shoot was actually concluded back in 2012, which makes it all the more strange that we haven’t really seen anything from it. Aside from some set photos and the image above, we don’t have very much to go on for Max’s latest adventure.
Co-starring with Hardy will be Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Zoë Kravitz, Riley Keough, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, so it’s not a bad cast. And with Miller behind the camera, I can’t imagine the film turning out to be a disappointment. But still, you have to wonder why the studio hasn’t been showing this one off a bit more. A new Mad Max movie is an exciting thing, right?
For those who haven’t been keeping up, Miller has described the plot as the following:
“Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa. This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived.”
So, once again, 2015 continues to get busier and busier. It’s almost becoming a bit silly at this point, too. I mean, why does everything have to come out in 2015? Why not spread the love out a bit? I really don’t think there’s ever been a busier year in Hollywood history and while it’s going to be one hell of a time to be a movie blogger, it’s also going to be one hell of a time to be a moviegoer.
