According to a new job listing, Microsoft Studios appears to be working on a free-to-play game based on an existing and successful first-party IP for theĀ Xbox platform.
As discovered by DualShockers, Microsoft’s new Technical Producer will “drive the future of gaming through a hybrid of AAA quality games and service-based experiences, technology, and business models,” by working with both “external game developers and an internal team of cross-discipline employees in [the] Xbox organization.”
In the new position, he or she will “lead the production, execution and integration of key technologies and features necessary to support the service components of a new game based on an existing, successful Microsoft Studios IP.”
The job listing does not specifically mention which console the mysterious free-to-play game is headed for, but it seems reasonable to assume that we are talking about a future Xbox One title — especially when you consider the semi-free-to-play model being used for Killer Instinct.
What is significantly harder to figure out is exactly which “existing, successful” Microsoft Studios’ IP we are talking about — as there is certainly no shortage of titles to choose from. With nothing solid to go on, feel free to shout out which Microsoft game you would like to see go free-to-play in the comments below.
Personally, I’m pulling for either Viva Pinata or a Blast Corps reboot — assuming that the Blast Corps IP transferred over with Rare. If it didn’t, then I want that on the Wii U and Viva Pinata on theĀ Xbox One.
