Cameras are set to roll on the long-awaited threequel to the long-dormant, early-millennium horror franchise Jeepers Creepers, if reports coming out of the American Film Market are to be believed.
Shock Till You Drop is reporting that not only has there been significant movement on the Jeepers Creepers 3 front, but that “one day of shooting is already in the can.” That’s certainly intriguing news for fans of the malevolent winged Creeper, who have long-clamored for a third installment of the perpetually stuck-in-mothballs series.
Jeepers Creepers writer/director Victor Salva (who helmed the horrific original in 2001 and its less-successful 2003 sequel) was coy about any future developments, but did state that, “There may finally be some very good news for those waiting for the third Jeepers film to go before the cameras.” Not a denial nor a confirmation, but his statement does insinuate that something may be brewing in his camp.
The original Jeepers Creepers film starred a fresh-faced Justin Long and Gina Philips as siblings traveling the desolate backroads of Florida on their way home from college. Their idyllic road trip turned into a nightmare of unimaginable proportions when they became the targets of a relentless, blood-thirsty demon who is ritualistically awakened every twenty-third spring for twenty-three days in order to prey upon unsuspecting passerby.
The previous Jeepers Creepers films earned a combined $120 million at the box office, so a third chapter in the relatively low-budgeted series should have no trouble getting off the ground.
