Meet Emmet In The Preview For The Lego Movie Trailer

Hollywood marketing has reached a point where we're inundated by trailers for films months in advance. By the time the actual film has been released, we've already made up our minds about whether or not it's any good. As I've mostly made up my mind that The LEGO Movie is going to be awesome, I'm in a good position to avoid being annoyed with the recent preview for The LEGO Movie's upcoming full-length trailer.

Hollywood marketing has reached a point where we’re inundated by trailers for films months in advance. By the time the actual film has been released, we’ve already made up our minds about whether or not it’s any good. As I’ve mostly made up my mind that The LEGO Movie is going to be awesome, I’m in a good position to avoid being annoyed with the recent preview for The LEGO Movie’s upcoming full-length trailer.

Yeah, that’s right: the preview for The LEGO Movie trailer. It gives us literally nothing that we have not already seen in the initial teasers. We meet Emmet (Chris Pratt), our hero, and see a few images from the old trailers. It’s only thirty-six seconds, but it’s there to remind us that The LEGO Movie is still happening and we should be excited about it; or at least excited for the trailer.

The LEGO Movie is directed and written by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, both responsible for Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street. It stars Emmet the everyman played by Pratt (who will also pop up in Guardians of the Galaxy) alongside LEGO versions of Wonder Woman (Cobie Smulders), Green Lantern (Jonah Hill), Superman (Channing Tatum), and, of course, God (Morgan Freeman). At least, the little bearded dude voiced by Morgan Freeman certainly looks like a LEGO version of God. Was there a time when Morgan Freeman wasn’t God?

I think many of us are excited for The LEGO Movie, and this teaser will be unlikely to change that. I’ll be glad to see the actual trailer when it premieres, though. So far we’ve only had a few tastes of the film.

You can watch the little teaser below and let us know what you think in the comments. Does The LEGO Movie still intrigue?

The LEGO Movie will hit theatres February 7, 2014.
