Gamers who plan on purchasing a PlayStation 4 and already own a PlayStation 3 can now reserve select launch titles digitally through the PlayStation Network.
While PS4 titles Knack and Warframe were available for reserve last week, this week Sony has added four of its biggest launch titles to the service. Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Killzone: Shadow Fall and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag can now be pre-ordered and will be available to download to your console on launch day.
Besides the benefit of having your titles being in digital form, gamers who reserve these titles will also be entitled to specific bonuses, as seen below.
- Killzone: Shadow Fall – The Shadow Pack
- Call of Duty: Ghosts – Free Fall Map
- Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – Aveline Figurehead
- Battlefield 4 – China Rising Expansion
If you have already pre-ordered the digital PlayStation 3 versions of Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts or Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, then you will be able to upgrade to a PS4 digital version for an additional $10. Furthermore, gamers who plan to purchase the PlayStation 3 season pass for these titles can also download the content for their PlayStation 4 for no additional fee.
Sony has been strongly pushing the move to digital download for a while now and this move just represents another logical step. The company is offering a pretty good deal here and if I knew for sure that I would be getting a PS4 come launch day, I would be all over this.
We will have continuing coverage of the PlayStation 4 as its November 15th launch date approaches. For now though, tell us, will you be pre-ordering any of these titles?
