Nintendo executives and development head honchos have become known for their playfulness over the years, and if a recent Nintendo of Europe Vine is any indication, that’s not about to change anytime soon. In anticipation of the newest Zelda entry for the 3DS, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, series producer Eiji Aonuma and Nintendo president Satoru Iwata are shown messing around with the pre-order bonus to be included with the UK edition of the game.
Aw, what a couple of goofballs! I’m not sure if any industry folks are starting to get tired of seeing happy Japanese men being silly all over social media, but I assure you that for me, it will never get old.
The item in question, as shown above, is essentially just a treasure chest like one you might find in your typical Zelda dungeon. It even shoots out the iconic Zelda triumphant jingle when opened! To be honest, I’m not overly upset that I won’t be getting this, and I can certainly imagine pre-order incentives that I’d be more bummed about missing out on than this, but it certainly doesn’t mean the thing isn’t cool. I mean c’mon – these guys totally sell it.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is slated for a November 22nd release both in Europe and stateside, so doodad-lovers will have a decision to make in the coming weeks about whether they want to consider importing. I’m not feeling overly compelled – but then again, judging by Mr. Iwata’s reaction, perhaps this Zelda trinket amounts to more than initially meets the eye.
