Will Ferrell Keeps Dodge Classy As Ron Burgundy

Ron Burgundy is definitely one of Will Ferrell's most iconic characters, and one of modern comedy's most indelible creations. Despite many delays, Burgundy is finally bringing his Channel 4 News Team back in Anchorman: The Legend Continues. The comedy sequel doesn't hit theatres until December 20, but six new commercials for the Dodge Durango featuring the legendary fictional news anchor should tide fans over until new footage from the movie appears.

Ron Burgundy is definitely one of Will Ferrell’s most iconic characters, and one of modern comedy’s most indelible creations. Despite many delays, Burgundy is finally bringing his Channel 4 News Team back in Anchorman: The Legend Continues. The comedy sequel doesn’t hit theatres until December 20th, but six new commercials for the Dodge Durango featuring the legendary fictional news anchor should tide fans over until new footage from the movie appears.

Will Ferrell is no stranger to product placement and cross-promotion (Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby was little more than an extended series of commercials for KFC, Applebee’s and NASCAR). And although it’s germaine that a character from the 1970s is selling brand-new cars, the commercials do show that Ron Burgundy could be a massively successful car salesman if the news racket ever comes up cold. In fact, there’s an idea for a potential second sequel to the 2004 comedy classic.

The six commercials starring Will Ferrell are quite hilarious, filled with sexual innuendo and the actor’s maniacal reactions as Burgundy. In two of the ads, Burgundy seduces the audience with the features of the glove compartment. In another, he compares the car’s horse power to an actual horse. The funniest ones show a run-in with two ballroom dancers who find themselves on the set of his commercial.

There’s no word on whether Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd’s character) will be doing promotionals for deodorant or Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) will be showing up during commercial breaks showing off his love for IKEA lamps.
