Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl is coming! With each day that passes I grow more obsessively excited, scrounge for more new information about the title, and then stare at pictures of the pre-order bonuses until I pass out around 2AM or so. Wake-up, repeat. By launch you should be seeing this entire website covered in news about the game, along with reports that I’ve been hospitalized. Totally worth it though!
Today’s new info comes in the form of a trailer showing off the game’s classic mode, described by Atlus as a match made in heaven for “Etrian Odyssey purists.” Unlike the story mode, which presumably opens up more classes, characters, and abilities as things progress, the Classic Mode gives you access to all nine classes right off the bat. The idea in this mode is to allow you to custom-tailor your dungeon crawling experience, and having access to all classes as your hand pick your five-man party should definitely allow for that. Your save data can jump between modes, and the plot even deviates from the story mode a bit to keep your second playthrough fresh.
Atlus has also been clear that any save data you rack up playing the September 16th demo of the game will carry over to the real game itself, so don’t hesitate to play hard if you decide to grab that when it hits on Monday.
The new trailer is pretty standard otherwise, but does a nice job of explaining Classic Mode in general, so if you still don’t understand what I’m talking about then just watch it and all will become clear. Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl is coming to 3DS on October 1st, so get hyped and pre-order soon if you want those shiny bonuses.
