Fans of last year’s quirky mobile rhythm game, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, now have another musically-oriented title based on the iconic Square Enix RPG series to look forward to. The publisher recently announced that Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, a direct follow-up to the original, is currently in development, and scheduled for a Japanese launch on the 3DS next spring.

New features confirmed for Curtain Call include a whopping song list comprised of over 200 unique tracks, including some from Final Fantasy XIV and Lightning Returns, over 60 characters to play as, and a new competitive multiplayer mode. Other than that, details remain slim.

The original Theatrhythm, which also made its debut on the 3DS and came to iOS later, was a fun title that definitely made good use of the nostalgia that many gamers have for the various titles that comprise the Final Fantasy series’ twenty-plus years of role-playing adventure. Hopefully, this will be a worthy successor.

We will keep you updated on Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call as more details are revealed. Until then, let us know your thoughts on the announcement in the comments section below.
