All Games Beta has posted a new video containing leaked gameplay footage from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami’s upcoming “true survival horror game,” The Evil Within, giving us our first look at the title’s combat mechanics.

While The Evil Within‘s E2 2013 gameplay demo centered entirely on the title’s intro section, this new video (which consists of short off-screen clips of gameplay footage) starts with some gunplay against monsters climbing through a window, followed by boss battle, and finally wraps up with Sebastian (the game’s protagonist) watching security camera footage of cops shooting at an unseen enemy. All three sequences have a heavy Resident Evil 4/Shadows of the Damned feel to them (especially the chainsaw decapitation scene), which is hardly a surprise considering Mikami’s involvement on the project.

Overall, the combat gameplay comes off as slightly disappointing, as it seems much less survival horror focused than what we were expecting. With that said, the entire video is less than a minute in length, so it is best to refrain from making any judgement on the game one way or the other at this point.

The Evil Within is currently scheduled to launch sometime in 2014 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Check out the leaked gameplay footage below, and let us know your thoughts on how the game seems to be shaping up down in the comments.

[Update] The leaked footage of The Evil Within has been removed from Daily Motion due to a Terms of Use violation.
