Today, Variety is reporting that Samuel L. Jackson will be adding yet another villainous role to his resume as he’s been cast in Matthew Vaughn’s The Secret Service, a film which continues to impress us with its ever growing cast.
Already set to star Taron Egerton, Colin Firth and Michael Caine, The Secret Service is shaping up to be pretty exciting. It doesn’t stop there either. The hunt for the female lead is still on going, with Emma Watson and Bella Heathcote rumored to be the frontrunners.
Based on Mark Millar’s comic book of the same name, the film follows “a kid (Egerton) who is taken under the wing of his super spy uncle (Firth), who teaches him how to be the best spy he can be.” That’s the gist of it, at least.
Jackson’s casting comes after Vaughn failed to lure both Tom Cruise and Leonardo DiCaprio into the film to play the villain. While it’s unclear why things didn’t work out with either of those stars, adding Samuel L. Jackson is a great move and one that will definitely benefit the film. We’ve seen Jackson do menacing and mean before, and he’s pretty damn good at it.
With the film set to head into production shortly, you can expect that female lead role, as well as the other supporting roles, to be cast in the coming weeks. Stay tuned as we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
For now though, tell us, are you happy to see Samuel L. Jackson joining The Secret Service?
