Hot on the heels of our first look at the turtles’ lair, we have even more photos from the set of Jonathan Liebesman’s currently-shooting reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
While most of the photos are rather ordinary (pics of Megan Fox, Will Arnett, and Whoopi Goldberg standing around), what is interesting about this latest batch of photos is seeing Raphael in his classic trench-coat and hat disguise. While we have seen shots of the actors in their pre-CGI state (i.e. wearing their motion capture suits), these pics give us a bit of an idea as to how big the turtles will be, and from the looks of it, they’ll be huge!
The other bit of behind the scenes goodness we have today is a set video taken from shooting in Times Square, as well as several additional photos that came with the following description of the scene being filmed:
In any case, I got there just as they were filming what appeared to be a major disaster / explosion / crash / building collapse. While there were no *actual* explosions, there was (fake) wreckage everywhere, (fake) cops everywhere, a (fake) firetruck and crew, and extras were throwing themselves on the ground and pretending to only painfully pull themselves up. In short, it was awesome!!
I love, love, love seeing all the behind-the-scenes stuff so this was just awesome. They’d yell “Rolling!” and the people would all look up and point and then the director would do this countdown, “3-2-1… IMPACT!” and on “Impact!” everyone would run or throw themselves to the ground and cameras would close up on them on the pavement or film them running by. It was controlled chaos.
If all of these neat little looks at the upcoming film have shown us anything, it’s that the set isn’t exactly closed off to the public, but then again, when your film is set in New York City, I suppose it would be nearly impossible to keep things out of the eyes of the millions of pedestrians.
So without further ado, take a look at the video and extensive gallery below for a look at what will hopefully be a fun return to the mutants that many of us grew up with.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is due to hit theaters on June 6th, 2014.
