Today, Ubisoft debuted a brand new trailer for next month’s triple-A release, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, which will mark Sam Fisher’s (seemingly badass) debut as the leader of Fourth Echelon. Available for your viewing below, it acts as an introductory story trailer and a pat on the back for the development team, by offering some cutscene content, talk of the titular Blacklist and, you guessed it, some manly spy work. After all, it’s Sam’s way now, and he’s apparently the only man who can stop a terrorist cell that an army cannot.
Splinter Cell: Blacklist, which will infiltrate your favourite high-definition system on August 20th, certainly shows a lot of promise. If it lives up to all of said promise, and all of the pre-release hype surrounding it, then it could certainly end up being the best Splinter Cell game yet. Granted, my ideal iteration may be different from that of others, because my personal favourite thus far is Conviction. Apparently this one is a great mix of the series’ classic gameplay and that of its previous iteration, though – at least, according to here-say from pals in the industry.
I’ll be able to provide some personal thoughts regarding the sequel next week, after I get a chance to demo it at Ubisoft’s final preview event. Until then, check out the video below and let us know what you think.
