Variety is reporting that Jessica Chastain has signed on to star alongside Javier Bardem in A Most Violent Year. Directed by J.C. Chandor, who gave us the excellent Margin Call, not much is known about the film just yet as plot details are being kept under wraps. We don’t even have any specifics on the roles that the two stars will be playing, though it’s said that Bardem will be “the good guy,” if that counts for anything.
That being said, a J.C. Chandor fansite is claiming to have an unofficial plot summary. According to them, the film will follow “an ambitious businessman (Bardem) who is forced to deal with a corrupt establishment in 1980s New York.” Sounds intriguing, right?
Regardless of the plot, the pairing of Bardem, Chandor and Chastain alone is enough to be excited for this one. All three are very talented individuals and I have no doubt that the end product that they produce will be something special. Seeing as production will begin this Fall in New York City, we should have more details soon. Stay tuned as we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
