There was some potentially good news today for all the right-minded fans of the GameCube classic Chibi-Robo!, as Nintendo has released a brand new game in the series on the Japanese 3DS eShop!
The Google translation for the cute little robot’s fourth title — Chibi-Robo!: Plug Into Adventure (GC) and Chibi-Robo!: Park Patrol (DS) were, sadly, the only two games released in North America — is Chibi-Robo: Live Action!. This time around it appears that players will be able to use the 3DS camera to scan objects in their own house (like a roll of toilet paper or a slipper) and then have Chibi transport them into the actual game. Judging from the trailer (embedded below), the best part of the scanning process occurs when the tiny helpful robot pops out of the real-world objects via the magic of augmented reality!
I mean, who hasn’t wanted to have their own Chibi-Robo living inside a pair of house slippers!
Nintendo of America has a pretty poor track record when it comes to bringing Chibi-Robo! titles over to North America — Park Patrol was a Wal-mart (of all places) exclusive, and its sequel Okaeri! Chibi-Robo! Happy Richie Ōsōji! never made it out of Japan — so there is no guarantee that Live Action! will ever be translated for English-speaking gamers. Hopefully, its $15 eShop only release will make a translation more of a possibility.
Now, if Nintendo would only get cracking on making a Chibi-Robo! for the Wii U.
