Those looking forward to defending their brains via photosynthesis are going to have to wait a little bit longer as it was revealed today that Plants vs. Zombies 2 will be delayed. The news, which came from the game’s official Twitter feed, says that they are still hoping for the title to be released sometime this summer, but no revised release date has been given since the announcement. This latest development comes as a big upset to fans that have been patiently waiting for PopCap’s sequel to one of their flagship brands.
The follow up to the massively popular defense game was scheduled to be released for iOS on July 18th and will have players time traveling to various settings to help defend areas from the traffic cone-wearing zombie menace. As always, the game features a wacky sense of humor along with a cast of colorful characters on both sides combined with a simple but fun strategy system.
New additions to the game include brand new plant and zombie types along with various upgrades to help customize your botanic army. Plants vs. Zombies 2 will also feature micro transactions but the developers over at PopCap stress that players can beat the game without them.
Currently, Plants vs. Zombies 2 is only launching on Apple products, but the game will slowly make its way to other platforms much like the original title.
