Christopher Nolan is gearing up to shoot his next film, Interstellar, and he’s been assembling quite the cast. Matthew McConaughey has already snagged the lead role and Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Bill Irwin and Michael Caine are all on board to support him. Now, Nolan has added another reliable actor to his cast in the form of Casey Affleck.
In an interview with Elle Magazine, Affleck revealed his involvement by saying the following:
“I’ve got a movie coming out at Thanksgiving called ‘Out Of The Furnace,’ and I’m going to work on a Chris Nolan movie in the fall.”
Unfortunately, that’s all the actor would spill, so his role in the film is still unknown. In fact, almost everything about this film is unknown, which shouldn’t surprise anyone. Nolan is a very secretive director and until we get much closer to the release date, I doubt we’ll be hearing anything concrete.
All we know right now is that the film was developed by Nolan’s brother Jonathan and tells the story of “a group of explorers who go through a wormhole.” Sounds pretty intriguing, right?
As for Affleck’s involvement, I’ve always been a fan of his and I think he’ll make a great addition to an already very strong cast. He’s done some excellent work in the past, in films like Gone Baby Gone, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and The Killer Inside Me. He’ll likely take on a supporting role in Interstellar but I have no doubt that he’ll provide another solid performance.
It’s hard not to be excited for Interstellar at this point. You have Nolan behind the camera, a stellar cast in front and an interesting plot that will likely be something very special. Plus, anything that Nolan touches turns to gold. All things considered, this should be one of the best films of next year and I could not be more excited for it.
Filming on Interstellar will get underway this Fall, with the film scheduled for a November 7th, 2014 release date.
