Watch Miniature Superheroes In First Trailer For The Lego Movie

The Lego Movie sounds like nothing new as it seems as if there's a constant stream of direct-to-video Lego flicks being released all the time. This time though there's a huge all-star cast lending their voices to the flick and from the looks of this first trailer, the studio are setting their sights higher.

Warner Bros. are taking their hit superhero properties and assembling them for an animated feature.

The Lego Movie sounds like nothing new as it seems as if there’s a constant stream of direct-to-video Lego flicks being released all the time. This time though there’s a huge all-star cast lending their voices to the flick and from the looks of this first trailer, the studio are setting their sights higher.

Originally called Lego: The Piece Of Resistance, the subtitle has since been dropped in favour a simpler moniker. Names don’t matter of course. Not when you’ve got tiny plastic versions of Batman and Wonder Woman joining forces with the likes of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. With the vocal stylings of Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Alison Brie, Elizabeth Banks, Morgan Freeman, Will Arnett and Chris Pratt, the ensemble indicates that this ain’t gonna be the usual kiddie fare. Freeman takes charge for the narration of the trailer, doing what he does best: giving inspirational speeches.

Coming from the directors of Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the film is a serious contender for best family flick of next year. The duo were responsible for the recent 21 Jump Street remake, which fared well critically and at the box office. So much so, there’s now a sequel in development. They’re no strangers to the funny either, as both worked with Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence on animated TV series, Clone High.

Check out the plot summary for The Lego Movie below:

The 3D computer animated adventure tells the story of Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

The Lego Movie will hit cinemas on February 7th, 2014.
