Ahead of Microsoft’s next generation Xbox (Xbox 720/Durango/Xbox Infinity) reveal tomorrow, a new trademark filing has turned up that suggests Forza Vista could be one of the first games announced for the upcoming console.
As discovered by Siliconera, the Forza Vista trademark was filed by Microsoft on May 15, 2013 under a class typically used for video games and game software. According to the description on the filing, Forza Vista will be “a feature of interactive video game software which allows players to obtain statistical information of internal and external features of a vehicle and to virtually navigate and operate those vehicles.”
In other words, it is a car racing game.
There is no indication that Forza Vista is in development for the next generation Xbox, and there is never any guarantee that Microsoft will actually release a game using the trademark. With that said, the recent application date seems to indicate that we might be seeing a reveal of the game at tomorrow’s press event.
Somewhat backing up that line of speculation, is a Facebook tease today from British automotive manufacturer McLaren Automotive, stating:
“Tomorrow, 6pm BST/10am PDT, Xbox is revealing something special. We think you might like what they’re announcing…”
Either the employees of McLaren Automotive are just huge Xbox fans, or the company has some kind of deal with Microsoft regarding a next-gen racing game. While nothing is certain, our money is on the latter, and Forza Vista sounds like as good of a guess as anything else.
We will be reporting on all the next-gen Xbox announcements tomorrow as they happen, and will let you know if Forza Vista ends up being debuted alongside the console.
