The Australian Classification Board has recently given an “MA 15+” rating to a Zenimax Europe published “modified” video game titled Endless Summer. Considering that no such video game has been announced by either Zenimax or Bethesda, this new rating has us scratching our heads a bit.

Bethesda Softworks is listed as the “Author” of the April 22, 2013 rating, which clearly notes that Endless Summer is a “computer game” with “strong horror themes and violence.” In addition to the scary themes, the mystery game contains some “very mild” nudity, “mild” sex and language, and zero drug use.

Neither Bethesda or Zenimax has ever mentioned anything related to Endless Summer, but it is worth noting that this new rating has appeared close to the debut of The Evil Within — the publishers’ upcoming survival horror game from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami. The “modified” status of this new rating leaves open the possibility that Endless Summer is nothing more than a renamed Australian version of The Evil Within, or some future downloadable content for the game — although the tone of the two titles do not seem to match each other.

With E3 coming up soon we should be getting some word on what exactly Endless Summer is in the very near future. We will keep an eye for any official information from Bethesda and let you know as soon as they announce whatever it is.
