Last week Capcom and Valve announced that they had entered into a joint crossover project called Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2. The joint venture would, in part, result in characters from Left 4 Dead 2 making their way via downloadable content into one of the Mercenaries modes on the PC version of Resident Evil 6. With the PC version hitting retail and digital shelves today, Capcom has now released the first gameplay trailer for the four crossover characters.

The RE6 side of the Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 crossover downloadable content lets players control one of four survivors from Left 4 Dead 2 (Coach, Nick, Ellis, and Rochelle), while playing in the PC exclusive The Mercenaries No Mercy mode. Additionally, the Witch and Mini Tank enemies from the Left 4 Dead franchise have been tossed into the mode as unique enemy types.

The gameplay trailer released today covers each of the four Left 4 Dead 2 survivors, showing off some of their moves and weapon sets. Make sure to stick around towards the end of the trailer to see the Witch and Mini Tank zombies in action — both appear to slightly more menacing than your run of the mill RE6 zombies.

On the Left 4 Dead 2 side of the crossover deal, PC players will find that the Lepotitsa, Napad, and Ogroman enemies have been redeveloped by Valve using their Steam Workshop tools, and will be available as free DLC sometime this spring. No assets or further information about this content was released today.

The Resident Evil 6 DLC will be automatically downloaded in the background for all owners of the PC version starting on April 5th, for the extremely low price of free. Check out the Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 gameplay trailer embedded below, and make sure to let us know your thoughts on the crossover down in the comment section.
