Remember Anonymous? The hacker group most well known for taking down Sony’s Playstation Network, among other highly publicized stunts? Well, they’re at it again and this time, after hacking into the servers of production company Constantin Film, they’ve discovered a document that points towards Emma Watson being cast in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation.
Watson has been linked to the project for a while now and though she’s denied it countless times, this latest find by Anonymous does lend some more credence to the rumour. Now, it should be noted that the document that the hacker group found was from last Fall and stated that Watson MAY be cast as the lead. Of course, things may have changed since then and for all we know, Watson may not be involved at all.
For now though, it’s definitley food for thought, having little Hermione Granger turn into Anastasia Steele. It would be a bold career choice for the young actress but judging by her post-Potter gigs, she’s obviously looking to shed her image and hopes to be taken seriously as an actress. And I have no doubt that she’ll be able to. She’s very talented and I was blown away by her performance in last year’s The Perks of Being A Wallflower. I’m happy to see her breaking out of the Potter bubble and I look forward to seeing her take on more mature projects.
The film is currently slated for a 2014 release so with that in mind, we should be hearing more on the casting front soon. And when we do, we’ll be sure to let you know.
