The upcoming Splinter Cell: Blacklist is boasting quite the bevy of special editions available for your choosing. There are four different options (five if you include the previously announced Paladin Multi-Mission Aircraft Edition) that you can choose from come August 31, 2013.
The 5h Freedom Silver Edition comes with a silver Sam Fisher figurine (shown above), a silver steelbook, a 96-page graphic novel, five in-game suits, five in-game weapons, five in-game pieces of gear, and single player and co-op versions of maps titled Dead Coast and Billionaire’s Yacht. Man, that was a mouthful. This version is exclusive to Ubisoft’s online store, Uplay.
The 5th Freedom Edition has identical content to the Silver version except the Fisher figurine and steelbook aren’t, well, silver. This special edition variant is exclusive to GAME in the UK and Gamestop in Ireland. The Ultimatum Edition significantly cuts back on the in-game content, providing only three of the 5th Freedom Edition in-game content (two pieces of gear, one suit). It also dials the graphic novel down to 24 pages, substitutes the Sam Fisher figurine for a watch that’s inspired by the design of the signature goggles worn by Fisher, and doesn’t seem to be exclusive to any particular retailer.
Finally, there’s an Upper Echelon Day 1 Edition that is exclusive to GAME in the UK and Xtravision in Ireland. This variant doesn’t feature a watch or figurine but rather some gold goggles. Similar to the Ultimatum Edition, there’s two in-game suits and one in-game weapon included.
As you may have noticed, the radio-controlled Paladin airplane isn’t included with any editions of these games and is actually apparently a US-exclusive piece of hardware that will go for $170.
