Kimberly Peirce’s Carrie remake was originally supposed to be in theaters early this spring, but now fans of the Stephen King story will have to wait an extra seven months to see the film, as the date has officially been pushed back to October.
Of course, every time a film’s release date is pushed back, it makes some moviegoers nervous of the reasons behind the move. While some films, say World War Z, are pushed back because of a grand array of problems, I wouldn’t be too worried about the move for Carrie. Fall is naturally a better time for horror films and the majority are released late in the year. Considering that, and the fact that there hasn’t been any snags in production big enough to reach the public, I’m not too worried about the change for Carrie.
Chloë Grace Moretz is one of the most talented child actors working in Hollywood today. She’s been excellent in a diverse range of roles, so as soon as I heard she was the one playing Carrie I put most of my skepticism aside.
The next few years should be busy for Moretz considering she is currently filming Trolls and is attached to Man Under, The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea, The Rut, The Drummer and Dance of the Mirlitons, all of which are currently in pre-production.
To balance out the bad news of the film’s release being pushed, the studio has released a new poster. It’s in the same style as the recent poster featuring Moretz, but this one features Julianne Moore instead. Moore plays Carrie’s insane mom and this poster does an excellent job of showing just how crazed she is with those blood-shot, almost demonic, eyes. We’ve included that poster below for your viewing pleasure.
Carrie hits theaters October 18, 2013.
