Hot off the news that Joseph Gordon-Levitt has joined Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, we are now hearing that Josh Brolin will replace Clive Owen in the role of Dwight. Originally, it was reported that Dimension Films was pursuing Brolin for a totally unrelated role. Today, however, we are hearing that he will be replacing Owen, with one of the reasons being that the story will call for “Dwight to look completely different than he did in segments from Sin City.”
Why will he look different you ask? Well, the press release explains what exactly is going on. Check it out below.
In ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For,’ Dwight is hunted down by the only woman he ever loved, Ava Lord, and then watches his life go straight to hell. Chronologically, this story takes place prior to “The Big Fat Kill” (featured in the film ‘Frank Miller’s Sin City’) and explains how Dwight came to have a dramatically different face.
In addition to Josh Brolin, we are also hearing that Christopher Meloni has signed on as a disreputable cop. No further details on his character have been announced but once we hear more we’ll let you know. For now though, Sin City fans should definitely be pleased with these two new additions. Meloni is always a welcome face wherever he shows up and while Owen was great as Dwight in Sin City, Brolin is a more than competent actor who should be a suitable replacement. In fact, I think I’d rather see him in the role than Owen.
Brolin and Meloni will be joining Mickey Rourke, Rosario Dawson and Jaime King along with new cast members Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dennis Haysbert and Jamie Chung. Sin City: A Dame To Kill For will hit theatres on October 4th, 2013.
