Fox has announced the remastered edition of James Cameron‘s The Terminator for Blu-Ray in February. The film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Biehn and Linda Hamilton.
I recently received and reviewed the UK remastered edition of James Cameron’s The Terminator and I’ve got to say it is one of the best-looking catalog titles I’ve seen in some time and it’s the absolute best version of The Terminator I have ever seen. I’ve watched the previously released US disc and it doesn’t even come close to this new transfer, which wasn’t made available in the US until this upcoming February.
Here’s a snippet from my actual review:
Finally, the best-looking and sounding version of The Terminator is widely available on Blu-Ray. The previous release suffered from a beat-up and lacking video transfer, which crippled the effectiveness of the Blu-Ray disc and made a double dip inevitable. This newly remastered edition is perfect from a video and audio standpoint, but feels slightly light in the special features category.
Obviously Fox would announce a US version of the disc after I’ve gone out and grabbed the UK edition, but that’s fine, because this new release seems to mirror the one already circulating around the globe. Here’s the list of special features to be found on this new release:
- Remastered Theatrical Feature Blu-ray
- 7 Deleted Scenes
- Creating The Terminator: Visual Effects & Music
- Terminator: A Retrospective
The remastered US edition of The Terminator will street on February 19th, 2013.
