Ubisoft has confirmed that there is a bug in the Hidden Secrets DLC pack for Assassin’s Creed III that is causing “a very small number of players” to have their game save data erased. The bug was first reported by players posting on the company’s forums and has since been reproduced by the game’s developers.
Ubisoft has issued the following warning concerning the Hidden Secrets DLC bug:
“Just a quick heads up, we’re able to reproduce this issue at the studio and are working on a fix/workaround.”
“From what we can tell, this problem seems to be rare and should generally only affect a very small number of players. That said, we’re taking the speedy and complete resolution of this very seriously.”
The publisher has not yet announced when the patch will be available, and it is not known if any of the lost save data will be recovered after the update is released. To avoid experiencing the Assassin’s Creed III bug Ubisoft recommends taking the following action while downloading the Hidden Secrets DLC:
“Do not load your saved AC3 game while the DLC is downloading in the background. This appears to be the key trigger for this bug. You can do anything else you want to do, just don’t load up your saved game and play it while the DLC is downloading.”
The Hidden Secrets DLC launched on December 4, 2012 for those who purchased the Assassin’s Creed III Season Pass, the public released is currently scheduled for December 11, 2012. As soon as any new information on the upcoming patch is released we will update this post.
