Nintendo has announced that they have shipped over 5,000 Wii U demo stations to retailers in the US, meaning that you can finally prove to your non-gamer friends that the device is a new console and not a Wii add-on as Nintendo’s commercial seems to suggest.

The Wii U kiosks can be found at Target, Best Buy, GameStop, Walmart and Toys ‘R’ Us, and feature the following selection of games; Nintendo LandNew Super Mario Bros. USiNG PARTYZombiU, and Rayman Legends. Strangely, not all the demo stations are of the playable variety, as some are only able to display “specially created video content” of the console’s games.

Since the Wii U demo units have not yet fully penetrated every US retailer, make sure to check with Nintendo’s website before heading out to your favorite brick and mortar game peddler to get some hands-on time with the upcoming console.
