Bradley Cooper is currently in talks to reteam with his The Place Beyond The Pines director Derek Cianfrance for the Steven Knight-scripted Chef, which The Weinstein Company currently has the sales rights for. If you recall, a couple of years ago David Fincher tried to get the film off the ground with Keanu Reeves, but nothing ever materialized out of that.
For those unfamiliar with the script, it revolves around a “disgraced chef who, thanks to booze and drugs, loses his Michelin two star rated restaurant in Paris, but brings the gang back together, so to speak, in London to chase an elusive three star rating.”
It doesn’t exactly sound as compelling as the duo’s previous effort, The Place Beyond The Pines, but the teaming of these two individuals is still a very exciting prospect.
Early reviews on their first collaboration are pretty positive and Cooper is starting to gain some Oscar buzz for his role in the upcoming Silver Linings Playbook. Plus, he already has experience playing a chef (TV’s Kitchen Confidential), so the role shouldn’t be much of a stretch for him.
Though the project is still in the early stages of development, with Bradley Cooper and Derek Cianfrance attached, there is some promise here and hopefully it won’t be too long before we get to hear more details on this one.
