WB Announces Magic Mike For Blu-Ray In October

Steven Soderbergh's experimental male stripping film Magic Mike took most by surprise when it ended up being one of the most popular (and successful) films not only of the summer, but of the year. Star Channing Tatum has been on a roll lately, with The Vow and 21 Jump Street both proving that his name attached to a film means something. Soderbergh's R-rated Magic Mike went on to clear $100 million domestic on a scaled back budget and a specific target audience.

Warner Brothers will be bringing Steven Soderbergh’s latest flick Magic Mike to Blu-Ray in October, starring Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey and Alex Pettyfer.

Steven Soderbergh’s experimental male stripping film Magic Mike took most by surprise when it ended up being one of the most popular (and successful) films not only of the summer, but of the year.

Star Channing Tatum has been on a roll lately, with The Vow and 21 Jump Street both proving that his name attached to a film means something. Soderbergh’s R-rated Magic Mike went on to clear $100 million domestic on a scaled back budget and with a specific target audience.

Despite the marketing geared towards the females, Magic Mike still drew in lots of crowds and ended up gathering a whole bunch of positive critical reviews, including one from one of our own staff members.

Jonathan Lack had this to say about the film in his official review:

Magic Mike is far from perfect, but that’s the fun. Whether you think Soderbergh is winking at the audience or the movie is “so bad it’s good,” Magic Mike is one heck of a good time at the movies.

A sequel is in the works and a Broadway musical hasn’t been ruled out just yet, making Magic Mike one of director Steven Soderbergh’s most successful efforts yet. I personally dug the flick and cannot wait to pick it up on Blu-Ray.

The film comes to Blu-Ray in the form of a Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack, with an undisclosed amount of bonus material.

Magic Mike will street on October 23rd, 2012.
