Early this morning, Konami revealed to attendees at the Metal Gear 25th Anniversary event in Japan that the company has been working on a new game in the popular series, titledĀ Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.
A proper Western announcement has not yet been made by the company, so some of the initial details coming from the event are a bit sketchy. From what we have been able to piece together, it sounds as if Ground Zeroes is destined for the Xbox 360 and PS3, although a release window was not announced. Additionally, it will star Snake and could be an open-world game.
Reports from the event are claiming that a demo was shown that featured Snake avoiding spot lights while he infiltrated an enemy compound during a storm. At one point he kills a guard who is driving a jeep, then calls in a helicopter to make his escape. Apparently, all of this took place in an open-world environment.
The only image that we have of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes comes from some artwork posted by Famitsu that shows Snake, wearing night-vision goggles, and standing in the rain at the compound featured in the demo.
As soon as Konami announces more details about Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes we will let you know.
For now though, check out the image below.
