UPDATE: The trailer has been removed from this post at Sony’s request.
The release of Quentin Tarantino‘s new film, Django Unchained, keeps inching closer and closer, bringing with it new bits of marketing every now and again. Today, thanks to The Playlist, we get a new international trailer that, while only a minute long, offers up little bits of new footage to amp up the excitement for what is already a hotly-anticipated film.
Not too long ago, we heard some interesting things about the film from Anthony LaPaglia, who said he had to drop out of the project due to his shooting schedule continually being pushed back. According to him, “The production was just out of control, over-budget, it was everywhere.”
This could be troublesome news, but the project wrapped in July, giving Tarantino five months to finish putting it together. Plus, he’s already shown that he can deliver even under a time crunch, something he proved with his previous film, the masterpiece Inglourious Basterds.
For those unfamiliar with Django Unchained, it tells the story of a slave-turned-bounty hunter who sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner with the help of a mentor.
This is easily one of my most anticipated films for the remainder of the year. I read the screenplay last year, and while I didn’t find it as compelling a read as Basterds had been, I still enjoyed it quite a bit and am very interested in how it will turn out on the big screen.
You can catch Django Unchained when it hits theaters on December 25th.
