The Red Dawn remake, like the excellent The Cabin in the Woods, was another victim of MGM’s bankruptcy a few years back. It too was filmed in 2009, but unfortunately had to be delayed, causing people to wonder if it would ever show up at their local theater. But now, thanks to Open Road Films, we know that the film will finally be released this fall.
Today, thanks to First Showing, we have a look at the first official poster for the film. It’s not exactly mind-blowing and in fact, it’s merely a step away from being a simple “floating heads” design.” However, we do get a good look at some of the cast, which includes Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, and Josh Hutcherson.
You may recall that the original film was about a group of teenagers defending their town and country from invading Soviet forces. However, this remake will change the villain to North Korea (which was originally China before it was changed due to concerns about the Chinese box office).
The screenplay comes from Carl Ellsworth (Red Eye, Disturbia) and Jeremy Passmore, and was directed by first-timer Dan Bradle, who is mainly known for being a stunt coordinator and second unit director.
Red Dawn finally hits theaters on November 21st.
