Ahead of the company’s GamesCom press conference next week, Sony Computer Entertainment has filed two new trademarks for Rain and Until Dawn in both the U.S. and Europe for use in “computer game software”.

The Rain trademark was filed with both the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and The Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market (OHIM) on July 30, 2012. In addition to all the normal information typically found in trademark filings, the OHIM listing also included the Rain logo image seen above.

OnlySP is speculating that the Rain trademark could have something to do with a recent Sucker Punch job listing, and a bit of mystery PlayStation gameplay footage that popped up on NeoGAF back in June of this year. While both of these possibilities seem reasonable, neither one has been confirmed at this point.

Much less is known about the Until Dawn trademark, which was re-registered with the USPTO this month and registered with OHIM back in May 2012.

Late last month we got word that Sony was prepping “at least two” new game reveals for GamesCom, the recent Rain and Until Dawn trademarks suggest that these will be the two games announced at their press conference on August 14th.

We Got This Covered will keep an eye on the Sony conference next week, and let you know as soon as something official is announced.
