In a recent interview with Collider, writer/director Drew Goddard expressed an interest in getting involved in the upcoming Daredevil reboot, which is currently undergoing some production troubles. Speaking of production troubles, Goddard also touched on World War Z, which is facing a whole handful of issues and delays.

If you remember, last month Goddard was called in to do re-writes on the script, specifically, to script a new ending based on the one that Damon Lindelof wrote. Many thought that the scripting troubles on World War Z spelt trouble for the film but as Drew Goddard told Collider, it really wasn’t a big deal.

“I think a lot of that got blown out of proportion. It really was like, they asked me to come look at the movie and give ideas on how to help, and that’s what happened. That happens all the time, I don’t know why this got blown up with World War Z and it suddenly became a big thing. It’s the sort of thing that happens with screenwriters all the time where you give your ideas on what could help, you write some scenes for people.”

To me, it sounds like Goddard is just trying to protect the film as his name is now tied to it. A six month delay and seven weeks of reshoots usually means that things aren’t going too well. In fact, the production for World War Z has been troubled from the start and as ambitious and exciting as it sounds, I don’t have much faith in it.

As for Daredevil, Goddard expressed interest in doing the film, stating that he’s a huge fan of the character.

“You’re talking to a guy who had quotes from Daredevil painted on his wall while growing up. Even when I was 18, I still had the blood red door with the, ‘I have shown him that a man without hope is a man without fear.’ That was what I loved and so it’s the sort of thing that if we can find the right project, I would love to do it.”

Now that David Slade is gone, FOX does need a director for their Daredevil reboot, perhaps Goddard is the man for the job? I don’t think fans would object either, not after the reception they gave Goddard’s last film, The Cabin In The Woods.

Drew Goddard is quickly making his way to the A-list, and deservedly so. FOX’s Daredevil film seems like a great fit for the young writer/director and I’d love to see him on board.

What about you? Do you want to see FOX give their upcoming reboot to Drew Goodard?
