What good are comic book adaptations for the screen if there’s not a shared universe across multiple projects involved? The answer, of course, is that standalone adaptations are worth just as much (arguably if not more) as their multi-film/series counterparts, but it’s nevertheless impossible to deny the glee that comes with watching one of your favorite heightened realities get expanded exponentially.
That’s going to be the case for The Boys sooner than we may have thought. The gnarly superhero drama series is one of Prime Video‘s most lucrative properties, and we finally have a clearer clue on when we can expect its highly anticipated spin-off, Gen V.
In a promotional sizzle reel showcasing returning and upcoming Prime Video content, it’s revealed at approximately the 40-second mark that Gen V will be landing on the platform sometime in September of this year, and if 2023 continues flying by the way it has, then we’ll get to indulge in this next round of superpowered debauchery in the blink of an eye.
Burying information like this in a platform-wide sizzle reel is certainly a peculiar choice; with The Boys flying as high as it has been all these years, who wouldn’t jump at the chance to learn everything they can about release information for a college-based spin-off in the vein of X-Men meets The Hunger Games meets a giant vat of depravity?
Gen V stars Jaz Sinclair (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Marie Moreau, a young supe that can manipulate blood, along with Chance Perdomo (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Lizze Broadway (Ghosted), Maddie Phillips (Teenage Bounty Hunters), Derek Luh (Runaways), Asa Germann, and Shelley Conn (Good Omens).
Gen V will release to Prime Video sometime in September.
