Just a week ago, we were still caught up in the whirlwind of excitement following the eventful weekend of TUDUM. However, things have taken a calmer and more tranquil turn in the Netflix world. That’s not to say that the hype hasn’t reached unprecedented levels though. Yet, there’s only so much information about The Witcher that I can handle before tuning out of the song – but you didn’t hear it from me.
Nevertheless, midweek began with some exciting news related to the Snyderverse – or should I say the Netflixverse – that are definitely worth keeping an eye out for. On a different note, everyone’s favorite teen show may have single-handedly obliterated the excitement meter with its upcoming final season, overshadowing other shows that seem to have overstayed their welcome on the platform. Who would have thought that teen drama could be so captivating?
Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon gets a science fiction double feature on Netflix
All Zack Snyder fans, rejoice and prepare yourselves for an exciting Netflix double feature on the horizon. Recently, Snyder himself dropped hints about his interest in expanding beyond Rebel Moon and aiming for the stars. This suggests that the sci-fi film might become its own universe, offering new and exciting possibilities for all those hoping for a new Snyderverse. After all, we doubt Netflix would turn down the chance to keep an original Snyder work.
Of course, this ambitious plan for a double feature, with the hope for even more future installments, may ultimately prove fruitless. Snyder is known for his ever-evolving inspirations, often leading him to embark on new projects leaving old ones behind. Nevertheless, fans can take solace in the fact that Rebel Moon is expected to continue its story, though no one knows for how long.
Chronicles of Narnia may not be the only new addition happening on Netflix grounds
Greta Gerwig has garnered a whole new following ever since it was announced that she would be directing a fresh spin on the beloved fantasy blockbuster, The Chronicles of Narnia. Although details about the reboot are scarce at the moment, fans of the series are confident that the director of Ladybird will do justice to the story. What’s more, some fans are even expressing their anticipation to see Timotheé Chalamet grace the screen in Narnia.
In a funny twist of fate, the Barbie director also announced her wish to delve into the superhero realms, and even if it may seem odd to think of this nuanced and downright bold director working with superhero stories, nothing is impossible for someone with her talents. What’s more, perhaps it will give Netflix a chance to dive into the superhero universe, with stories entirely unrelated to Marvel or DC.
As they say, good news comes in threes. Apart from the exciting C.S. Lewis adaptation, fans can also look forward to two new series joining the Netflix library: HBO’s Band of Brothers as the new result of the Netflix and HBO agreement, and the Japanese original feature Once Upon a Crime. The latter, in particular, has already generated significant buzz due to its bold and mysteriously intriguing premise. It has the potential to lure in a diverse range of audiences, promising an enjoyable viewing experience for all.
Sex Education announces its first and final season, in a pleasing turn of events
Netflix recently unveiled the trailer for the final season of the popular dramedy Sex Education, and needless to say, no one was ready to face its imminent farewell. With three seasons already out, the series quickly grabbed audiences’ attention due to its quirky story, fantastic writing, and of course, the ensemble of actors that stun all Netflix users. Unfortunately, the time to say goodbye is near, but the farewell leaves a bittersweet taste behind.
Even if the feeling of grief looms near, there is also a comfort that comes with knowing that Sex Education lived long enough to see itself end by its own means. Not only did Netflix let the series go on until its due date, but also, but Sex Education also avoids the fate that befalls many TV shows. It will be remembered for its three brilliant seasons (soon to be four), each flowing seamlessly into the next. All good things must come to an end, after all.
