For someone who spends an awful lot of time on the internet, Stephen King appears to have shown a startling failure to grasp how it works after deciding to share his least favorite insult to millions of people around the world.

While it’s not unusual for the legendary author to make his feelings on any given subject known on Twitter, it was a bold call to inform everyone with who exists online what to say in order to get under his skin. Don’t be surprised if his numerous archenemies decide to throw it back in his face, then, because we shouldn’t have to tell you what happened in the comments and replies as soon as King made his proclamation.

That’s right; scroll down and you will see literally dozens upon dozens of responses that succinctly state “OK, boomer” to Stephen King’s public hatred of the phrase “OK, boomer,” which is a development that absolutely nobody could have seen coming from a mile away. There are admittedly a lot of people who tend to agree with him, although you get the sneaking suspicion they more than likely fall into the same demographic as the mastermind of the macabre.

Arnold Schwarzenegger did at least embrace the boomer discourse by coming clean and admitting that it was highly unfortunate of him to be part of the generation that takes so much flak for the state of the world these days, but King is no Austrian Oak. Instead, he’s laid his cards on the table, and we can no doubt expect the “OK, boomer” comments to keep flying thick and fast whenever he enters the heated arena of the bird app from now until the end of time.
