The latest issue Famitsu, as translated by Andriasang, has revealed that a new “PlayStation 3 The Best” budget version of Metal Gear Solid 4 will be released in Japan this August that will bring Trophy support to the 4-year-old title. Current Metal Gear Solid 4 owners will also be getting a patch to gives them access to the Trophies in the budget version, but it is unclear as to exactly when the update will be released.
While this is certainly good news for Trophy hunters, keep in mind that Konami has not officially announced the release of the budget version of Metal Gear Solid 4, or the patch, for anywhere outside of Japan. It would stand to reason that at the very least the patch would be released worldwide but we are talking about Konami here, so just because “reason” is involved it doesn’t mean it will happen.
We also don’t know exactly what the Trophy list will look like, but it better include Gold Trophies for watching MGS4’s cutscenes. If anyone deserves a Gold Trophy it’s the gamers who are dedicated enough to sit through those massive confusing cutscenes.
