The most unheralded creatives in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe riding to the defense of the franchise in the face of criticism shouldn’t have been on anybody’s bingo card, but then again, we’ve come to expect the unexpected in regards to Kevin Feige’s comic book juggernaut.

Speaking of which, even the merest hint of admiration being pointed in the direction of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is being heralded as borderline blasphemy, which pretty much sums up how the majority feels about the disappointing Phase Five kickoff.

Any time you hear “Marvel Studios” and “VFX artists” in the same sentence, it’s almost always another report emerging that offers an insight into the daunting work conditions and unmanageable pressure that face the company’s digital wizards on every single project.

Turning that notion on its head, though, an established effects veteran with longstanding ties to the MCU has defended the superhero sandbox from accusations that it serves as the harbinger of cinema’s doom, which is something nobody could have predicted.

The inquest has been back underway ever since Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania landed on Disney Plus earlier this week, and we’ve already reached the stage where suggesting that it’s not as bad as its reputation leads to an outpouring of online vitriol.

People are fully entitled and actively encouraged to enjoy whatever they want, though, but it seems Quantumania has upset so many folks to such a degree they simply can’t fathom how anyone would possess anything other than utter disdain for it.

Following in the footsteps of that guy who definitely wasn’t cast as the Multiverse Saga’s big bad and Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel has become the third star in quick succession to see two different movies top the domestic box office in consecutive weekends.

The arch-enemy of any form of clothing with sleeves has witnessed Fast X rise to the very top to dislodge Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 from its perch, although he might be getting worried seeing as Riddick is edging awfully close to being the only franchise on his docket.
