You probably don’t think of Jason Momoa – the actor who played the ruthless warlord Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones – as a ballet dancer. However, for his most recent role as the villainous Dante Reyes in the film Fast X, the actor had to do a quick Google lesson to emulate his character’s eccentric flamboyance.
In an interview with Digital Spy, Momoa was quick to share the aspects of his role that he found most interesting.
“I loved a lot of the stuff. I wear my hair in all kinds of wacky ways, but I put my hair up like a peacock. I’d wear my hair in certain ways when I come to set, just the most crazy stuff and no one batted an eye, no one questioned it.”
Speaking more about his portrayal of Dante, Momoa elaborated:
After a certain point, it was like, that’s the character’ and that’s what I asked to do. I loved all the producers and even Vin [Diesel] for trusting it and letting me play it the way I did. We’d come up with stuff on the set and stuntmen and grips are looking at me as a grown man dancing around doing ballet, and literally Googled it ‘how to do Swan Lake‘ in that moment, and they let me do it.
Unfortunately, Momoa’s Swan Lake moments weren’t caught on camera (at least not that we’re aware of), but we would have enjoyed a peek behind the scenes of Fast X to catch a glimpse of this.
Louis Leterrier helms Fast X with a script by Dan Mazeau and Justin Lin. The film features Vin Diesel as series regular Dominic Toretto, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, John Cena, and Jordana Brewster, in what marks the 11th installment in the Fast & Furious franchise overall.
