Well, folks, we did it; the meme hell culture that has dominated the gaming landscape for the last few years has reached its peak. Every virtual Fortnite concert, MultiVersus match featuring Shaggy and LeBron James, and individual purchase of Untitled Goose Game has led us to this moment.
That’s right; Nicolas Cage, the actor, is officially joining the Dead by Daylight roster.
We want to highlight the fact that Cage doesn’t seem to be channeling any one particular role here; it’s not Cage’s Dracula from Renfield, and it’s not his protagonist from Color Out of Space, Mandy, Willy’s Wonderland, or any other horror-adjacent project he’s done. No, we seem to have an Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent situation on our hands here as Cage gears up as the most powerful character possible: himself.
Indeed, the real-life Nicolas Cage would probably make a more formidable opponent than any of the characters he’s played over the years, so this was probably the best route that Behaviour Interactive could have taken. At the very least, it’s a surefire way to fire up your playerbase.
While there’s not much official information surrounding Cage’s imminent arrival, it’s safe to assume that he’ll be joining the game as a Survivor, meaning players can finally fulfill their dream of being rescued from a rusty hook by Nicolas Cage before he yells at you for being a bad teammate. That said, if Behaviour pulls the curveball of the century and makes him a Killer, we’ll hope to hope itself that his Mori involves plunking his victim in front of Ghost Rider and forcing them to watch until the end, but then again, that may hurt him as much it hurts his target.
The Nicolas Cage DLC for Dead by Daylight will be available to download on July 5.
