Well, it was a happy Mother’s Day for many yesterday, with all of us celebrating our mothers, guardians, and mother-like figures in many countries around the world. They come in all shapes and sizes, including those soon-to-be, which now includes MCU actress Alaqua Cox.
The Hawkeye star announced her pregnancy yesterday by sharing a picture of her and her partner eating what appears to be gender-reveal cupcakes. In classic fashion, we could deduce from the picture (without having to read the caption) that Cox will be having a baby boy. It would appear that she had the gender reveal yesterday, writing “Best Mother’s Day gift, we can’t wait to meet you, baby boy!”
Cox made her debut in the MCU as the character known as Maya Lopez, also known as Echo. This was her debut role, and not only did she crush it playing the morally conflicted badass, but it also landed her her own spin-off as the lead in upcoming Disney Plus series Echo. Her casting was applauded by many, especially in the deaf community, who felt represented by the actress who was born without hearing.
Many are anticipating her upcoming offshoot, as it will feature a largely Native American and Indigenous cast, as well as bringing in the much-loved Charlie Cox as Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin. The show will see the character move back to her hometown in Oklahoma and reconnect to her roots, though with the latter two involved we can’t imagine it will be all sweet and peaceful.
