Twitter is calling for Andrea Mitchell to ‘retire already’ after her breathless, inarticulate play-by-play of Trump’s motorcade

She called it 'a sad day for America' and people don't like that.

NBC reporter Andrea Mitchell is getting dragged today after her less-than-stellar performance giving a play-by-play during former President Donald Trump‘s visit to New York today for his arraignment.

Mitchell, who is NBC News’ Chief Washington Correspondent and Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent, had some difficulty as she tried to explain what was happening to Trump. Some even took it as a pro-Republican stance.

Many are calling for her retirement and others are simply annoyed that MSNBC is going all in on the Trump coverage when they’re just adding air to an already huge balloon of coverage.

Here’s a sample:

Someone else commented, “Whoever had the notion to have Andrea Mitchell anchor MSNBC for four hours today needs to rethink their life.”

This person said when they see Mitchell it’s an immediate channel change.

Others are upset because she said “this is a sad day in history.” This is of course a more nuanced comment but people are taking it at face value.

She also sort of apologized for Trump and his behaviour.

Some people are just over it.

This person said he’ll pay her salary just to keep her off the air.

At least people are listening?

She also got lumped in with CBS’ 60 Minutes correspondent Leslie Stahl, who also got dragged for her softball interview with compulsive liar Marjorie Taylor Greene.

For the record, Mitchell has claimed she’s not a Trump supporter before. Back in 2017, when people weren’t used to politicians simply lying with no basis in fact, Mitchell lambasted the then President after he called her “Hillary Clinton’s P.R. person.”

“It is totally sui generis. I’ve never seen anything like this. I have never seen anything like this where people just flat-out lie. You know, black is white and white is black, and they mislead you. It’s really disconcerting to see the podium in the White House briefing room being used to mislead or misdirect or obfuscate.”

She also said she’s covered seven presidents and “have not endeared myself to any of them.” Seven? Shouldn’t you be better at this by now?
