Renfield isn’t the first time Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hoult have been onscreen together, albeit with a completely different dynamic as the pair played father and son in The Weather Man.
During their Reddit AMA, Cage and Hoult were asked how they felt to be reunited onscreen after almost 18 years. The Weather Man tells the story of David Spritz (played by Cage), a man who struggles to find the balance between his career and family life. He attempts to reconnect with his estranged wife, daughter, and son (played by 14-year-old Nicholas Hoult).

In response to the question on Reddit, Cage addressed the different dynamics, speaking of how he was starring in The Weather Man and Hoult was supporting him — and now it’s the other way around. He also took the time to compliment Hoult’s performance.
Hoult spoke on the overwhelming and intimidating nature of being a young actor but expressed his admiration for Cage, admitting he hadn’t seen many of his films at 14. However, since The Weather Man, he’s had the chance to delve into Cage’s filmography and learn from him.

Both actors had lots of projects to keep them busy in the following 18 years. Cage continued to be one of the most iconic actors of a generation in films like National Treasure, Ghost Rider, and Mandy. Meanwhile, Hoult built a name for himself and steadily rose the ranks of Hollywood, starring in films such as Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men Days of Future Past, and most recently, The Menu.
Fans responded to the post praising the actors and thanking them for their answers. Of course, the real question is, what did Nicholas Hoult think of his first-ever corndog? We’ll never know.
Renfield is set to hit theaters on April 14th.
