If perchance someone hasn’t noticed, BLACKPINK are still achieving astronomical highs in the seven years since their debut. After the three members all expressed their individualism through solo music, the time has come for Jisoo to grace and gift fans with music of her own, and it is already making history even before its release.
In March, the BLACKPINK main vocalist revealed the title and cover art of her upcoming solo project. As her future solo song looms near, YG Entertainment has already ignited interest through a pre-order for the most avid of fans. Unsurprisingly — and yet still understandably praise-worthy — this long-awaited release has already earned the title of “highest pre-ordered female soloist in history” to the one and only princess of K-pop.
The announcement came through Jisoo’s parent company, YG Entertainment. When the label revealed the singer’s upcoming singer’s solo album, ME had already surpassed over 950,000 stock pre-orders. Since then, the number has already increased, achieving over one million pre-orders, thus making Jisoo the most successful female soloist prior to an album’s release. Although ME will mark Jisoo’s solo album debut, it is not the first time a BLACKPINK member has ventured into solo work.
In 2018, rapper and singer Jennie released her hit single “Solo,” followed by the solo releases of the two remaining members Rosé – with her record-setting album -R-, and Lisa with the groundbreaking album LALISA, comprised of hit singles “Money” and “Lalisa.” Jisoo will be the fourth and final member of the girl group to go solo.
Taking a pause from group activities for a jiff, Jisoo’s solo album ME can be found and pre-ordered on Weverse. The album will finally be released on March 31.
