‘Star Wars’ fans are calling ‘The Mandalorian’ a ‘cartoon’ compared to ‘Andor’

It feels like the show is more silly than serious at this moment.

Yesterday, the third season of The Mandalorian made its way to the public. The first episode was fine, if not exactly spectacular, but in the wake of Andor, some fans feel like the show is more silly than serious.

Discourse like the above, which criticizes analyzing The Mandalorian as seriously as Andor, is circulating heavily online as of this story’s filing. Lots of fans especially loved the new aliens in the first episode, and feel the one who resembled DC’s Swamp Thing was a standout. But for one user, the notion that The Mandalorian should not be extensively picked apart or thought about after such a compelling episode is a shame.

Scrolling through Twitter, it’s easy to find fans who feel the Star Wars fandom will never get something as good as Andor again. Others say they prefer franchise outings that tend towards a more grown up sensibility, rather than aiming for an audience who still buys toys. For one analyst, the constant sniping does not mean a demand for necessarily “dark” work, but rather more personal productions.

Whatever the case, Andor is getting a second season, which will lead directly into Rogue One. Presently, The Mandalorian has seven more episodes in its third outing. They are going to air Wednesdays on Disney Plus through to the April 19 season finale. Some are wondering whether Grogu will speak in the next part of the story, and, while unknown, it definitely is a firm possibility.
